The kids get a bunk bed

Tonight, after months of deliberation, we finally decided to purchase a bunk bed from the “not going to last until college” category of an Ikea purchase.

Erin snapped this afternoon and decided that we should to to Ikea under the pretense of buying a new umbrella for the patio table- an umbrella that would of been in the “not going to last until next summer” category.

Once up the escalator Erin made a bee-line straight for the children’s bed section and hovered around the most sturdy looking model and let the kids sit in the top until an employee told us to cut it out. After shaking the frame, and kicking the legs, she finally wrote down the numbers and headed for the warehouse. For the kids, it was like finding out unicorns were real, since they had heard us talk about it since Christmas without any results. So, after letting them eat ice cream, we packed up the van and spent the rest of the evening putting the frame parts together for tomorrow. It’s going to be an all day event, dragging furniture around and re-arranging the kids room and the play room. In the end, we never even bought the patio umbrella.
